My Reflection of the Presidential Election 2008
As I watch history being made today while writing is blog, it is exciting for me to watch the whole process of the election. Although I did not vote because I'm German citizen, it is just a phenomenal time for me and for us residents of the United States to be part of this history.
The voter turnout was unprecedented in all parts of this great country. I was so happy to see that my husband finally voted for the first time. My daughter, a first time voter, sent in her absentee ballot via federal express so her vote will be counted.
This defining moment will also be very challenging for our president-elect Barack Obama. As I watch John McCain's concession speech; he so eloquently said with cheers that we as a country should come together in unison and get this country back on track - "Americans never Quit".
The times ahead will be challenging indeed with two wars and the financial crisis. As I watch Barack Obama igniting the watchful audience with his victory speech he states that we must work hard - "step by step, block by block with calaces on our hands. "Yes We Can". I'm sure that neither Senator Barack Obama nor Senator John McCain thought of when they first announced their running for presidency.

Petra- I lived in Germany for 4 years. President Obama has a long hard road ahead of him and we must all be a part of that. We can send letters, make phone calls, and most of pray for God to guide our country in the right direction.
I love that you shared your view from a new perspective. Who would you have voted for if you could have?
Petra: I am very impressed with your positive attitude. You have seen the election process in a way much different than any of us have. I think if many of us could see it through your eyes, too, that we would be very surprised, enlightened and encouraged by what we say. Petra... thanks for sharing.
HI PETRA!
I'm absolutely ELATED about President Elect Obama!! This has truly been a defining point in the US.
Katerina- I think that President-elect Obama cannot fail, simply because he is an African-American. The standards he has set must exceed expectation. He must surround himself with the right kind of people to help bring this country around.
Dinah - I do stay out of a political discussion and I'm glad that I could share my perspective with you. I firmly believe in voting without anybody looking over my shoulders, therefore, please accept my apologies for not disclosing whom I would have voted. :)
Karen - I try to stay positive with my life. I've watched American Election since 1985 when I first immigrated to the US and have never seen anything like this before.
Yvette- It brought tears to my eyes watching people as Barack Obama spoke in Chicago yesterday. Not because he is a Democrat, it's because of where he came from and what he made of himself. A true role model.
