Lakeland's celebration for Independence Day
Get ready for Lakeland's Red, White & Kaboom on Thursday, July 3, 2008; it will take place as every year around the Lake Mirror Promenade from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
With the sponsorship from Central Florida Eurocars and according to the Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation Bob Donahay, the city of Lakeland added to the fireworks this year, so it should be one fantastic show.
If you love the sound of smooth Jazz, you are in for a treat with Les Sabler, a native of Canada, who undertook his graduate studies at the University of Miami. This very talented contemporary artist mixes sounds, tempos and emotions on his nylon-string guitar, which takes on a lyrical effect that sure keeps the listener entertained. His latest album Sweet Drive is nominated as Album of the Year at the 2008 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards.
Bring your blanket and enjoy the live music, a spectacular fireworks display as well as variety of food and drinks that vendors around Lake Mirror offer.
Want to see more Fireworks? On July 4th the celebration continues at Lakeland's Joker Marchant Stadium. The fireworks display will follow after the baseball game between the Lakeland Flying Tigers vs. Ft. Myers around 9:00 p.m. Joker Marchant Stadium is located on 2301 Lakeland Hills Blvd. The tickets for the baseball game are $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Parking is free.

Sounds like a good time and not far from the house. Hope to bump into ya.
Shaun - Usually, I'll be there myself and watch this beautiful fireworks display. However, this weekend we will be going camping to do some R&R. Happy 4th July!
Hi Petra...
I was on my roof for the Fireworks and I do believe one of the displays was coming from Lakeland. The only thing I didn't like was not being able to hear the "KABOOM" :)
TLW...ROAR!
TLW - are you sure it wasn't Cypress Gardens display? Lakeland's "Kaboom" was on the 3rd and the display for the 4th was at Joker Marchant Stadium - a smaller display.
I guess it must have been Cypress Gardens. I didn't get on the roof until the 4th :)
thank you for your info. Look at my blogs i have a lot of cool place to go in Polk County. You're gonna be surprised of all we can do in this county!
Jared...
Who are you talking to? Just curious :)
TLW...ROAR!
Jared - I do appreciate your comment, although this post was written last year. I don't quite understand your comment if you are talking to folks interested in moving to Polk County or me?
