Space Shuttle Discovery - Its last successful "night time launch"

With God Speed Space Shuttle Discovery blasted off before sunrise today over the skies of Cape Canaveral at Kennedy Space Center what it perhaps turned out to be its last "night time launch" before this fleet retires. Its spectacular launch was seen throughout Central Florida and even in my back yard in Lakeland Florida, although my view was a little glimpse through my camera lens capturing what I saw was a flying star.

This mission will also mark firsts and lasts: For the first time there will be four women at the International Space Station at the same time totaling thirteen astronauts together. While there are currently two Astronauts flying this mission on Discovery for the first time, this will also mark the last time for first timers on Space Shuttle Discovery.

I do certainly hope that the space shuttle program will continue....

For live continuous coverage of Discovery's mission, besides NASA's web site, I found FloridaToday.com a great source.
