North Lakeland Hampton Hills Community Oppose Salvation Army Homeless Shelter
Thousand of concerned North Lakeland residents of
Hampton HIlls, Highland Fairways, Sleepy Hill Estates, Maronda Homes and
Terra Largo were not notified of a proposed Salvation Army Homeless Shelter site because these communities are located more than 500 feet of the proposed nearly 50 acre site.
The Salvation Army plans to build a mixed-use housing development that will bring hundreds of homeless people into these North Lakeland communities within close proximity to churches, small businesses, recreation center and nearby Elementary and Middle Schools.
I can certainly relate to the concerns residents of Hampton Hills, Terra Largo and other property owners have, helping homeowners sell and homebuyers buy homes when property values already are at their all time lows and with Salvation Army's new proposed plan of a homeless shelter that residents and myself suspect property values to sink even deeper because home buyers choose not to buy a home in these communities.
There is also concern of the management being ill prepared to provide for such a large site, fearing its residents will spill over to the neighboring communities and thereby negatively impact the quality of life for residents of Hampton Hills, Terra Largo and other North Lakeland communities and residence nearby.
Three years ago Salvation Army planned such a site in the Alameda Heights subdivision which was scrubbed, now they plan to get it right, please
