Is The Time To Buy A Home Really Now?
I have read a lot of blogs lately with bloggers and commenters say that "Now" is the time to buy a home. Really? Did you jumped on the bandwagon when the famous National Association of Realtors commercial, "It's Time 2 Buy" - was heavily advertised? I did and I'm the first one who will say that I was so wrong. Since then Lakeland Fl home prices have dropped by 43%.
I may be here the devils advocate, which brings up this question, "Is The Time To Buy Really Now?". Let's dissect this question. I think this question is too vague. The answer should be "depends on the individual buyer". Most people with whom I have spoken are not looking to buy because they have the followed the news and the media information. Many sellers if they are able and not under water are just sitting in neutral because they don't feel anyone will buy and/or they can wait for few more years to try and get their lost equity back. However, there are always exceptions. Then you have these advertisers who say, "home prices are lower than before". Before When... 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010?
We already know the reason the prices shot up so quickly, hitting their highest mark. With inflated prices and mortgages that required no qualification.
If it is really a great time to buy, why are we still having a high surplus of homes on the market? If it is really a great time to buy a home, why are folks not jumping and buying?
Is the answer high unemployment rate, tight lending criteria, economy, or fear - what do you have to say?
