31 Days of May Challenge 2011 - A True Challenge For The Not So Everyday Blogger

31 Days of May Challenge 2011 - A True Challenge For The Not So Everyday Blogger

31 Days of May Challenge 2011Sitting here contemplating about my last entry for the 31 Days of May Challenge 2011, I reflect upon this challenge.  First of all, I want to thank Christina ONeal, who made it pretty simple by not putting too many restrictions for this challenge. Although some may have disagreed with her simplicity, but I think her main focus was for bloggers, especially newbies to start blogging.

I have been blogging on Active Rain for three years now, participating in various contests.  The biggest challenge for me is to blog daily on Active Rain and besides with me vacationing in Germany I thought this would be the perfect challenge for the not so everyday blogger.

Lucky for me Germany is six hours ahead - I have the time to spend time with my family during most of the day and then in the evening while hubby was sleeping I was up writing a blog post in the middle of the night past 12 midnight and still get credit for the challenge - I didn't mind a little advantage for me :)

I am doing the happy dance because I have met the challenge, that I seriously thought I could not meet because my statistics of writing over 20 articles a month on Active Rain is almost non existent.  I don't know if others met this challenge, since we on our last day of entry, so what if you did not meet the challenge - at least you started and all beginnings are difficult. Believe me as time goes on it will get easier.  Remember, practice makes perfect or as I say it "practice makes progress".  I don't think there is ever a way to have the perfect blog post even it is featured.

Will I stop now? Heck no!  Maybe not 31 articles, but certainly want to increase my blog posting to like 25 per months - so let's see if I can take my own challenge instead of somebody else.

To Blog or not To Blog “Public” or “Members Only”

To Blog or not To Blog "Public" or "Members Only"

Today I was contacted by Cindy Marchant who wrote a post about her milestone and lessons learned - a "Members Only" post when I commented. "Congratulations on your milestone! I reached the same goal this week as well, however have not written a post about it - you did a fabulous job, by the way. To keep the flow going besides joining groups as you mention is to reciprocate, which is the beauty here on Active Rain. Why not share your milestone with the whole world?"

Cindy posed this question, "Did you mean post it to the public. I thought Active Rain Visibility Options for Bloggingyou could only post to Members "OR" the Public...can you do both?"

Cindy changed her post to "Public"

You see, I was under the impression that Active Rain members knew about the option to post "Members Only" or "Public".   I want you to understand that there are options for visibility - Public, Associates Only, Draft, Members Only and by clicking the "i" pointed by the red arrow in the screen shot as well as below is the definition for each category.

Active Rain Visibility Options for Blogging - Definition

There have been blogs and comments for this very topic of "To Blog or not to Blog - Public or Members Only" on Active Rain and since I'm writing about this topic, I thought I would through it into the mix of things in addition to let bloggers know the meaning behind your options described above.

To Blog or not To Blog "Public" or "Members Only"I know there are members on Active Rain that simply write "Members Only" blogs, which is fine with me - it is at their own discretion and I respect that. Blogging to me is primarily for business and even though you're blogging about the real estate, mortgage, staging, or the title industry you may want to  include personal posts every once and awhile; readers who are following you may want to get to know the "real you" before they will pick up the phone to call. That is the beauty of it all! Think about it for a moment..... The phone rings, you pick up the phone and the person on the other end wants you to list the house right away.... Why? You asked - because they know you already, they liked what they saw and the way you presented yourself by following your Active Rain blog, no listing presentation required!

Why not post majority of your blogs "Public"?
